Gay Iceland TourJoin us on this spectacular gay group tour to Iceland & the Faroe Islands! Superimposed on the rugged terrain of Iceland is a resilient and independent culture, fashioned over the years by the descendants of farmers and warriors who fled the tyranny of mediaeval Scandinavia. In the midst of a landscape both terrifyingly harsh and sublimely beautiful, one finds friendly, hospitable people with a very distinct culture and unique sense of humour.

Iceland is a hot (so to speak), up-and-coming destination for those who crave a bit of adventure, spectacular sights, unique cultures, and cuisines. It's also one of the safest and healthiest places on Earth - they don't even have mosquitos!

Unspoiled, Unexplored, Unbelievable. The Faroe Islands are a remote, enticing archipelago of 18 massive volcanic basalt rocks thrusting skyward through the North Atlantic Ocean, halfway between Norway and Iceland. Visit the Faroe Islands and explore Europe's best kept secret.

The waterfall was also used in the films Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Day 4 - Tuesday, July 28, 2020
Reykjavik - Golden Circle Tour
Iceland geysers gay tourToday we enjoy a full day "Golden Circle Tour".

The Golden Circle Tour allows us to visit some of Iceland‘s most stunning sights: Geysir geothermal area, the waterfall Gullfoss, and the UNESCO site Þingvellir National.

Geysir geothermal area is in South Iceland, near Laugarvatn Lake. The area is named after the biggest, and now mostly dormant, geyser – Geysir – and all geysers in the world owe their name to it. The biggest attraction today is the active Strokkur, which shoots up a column of water up to 30 metres (98 ft.) into the air every few minutes.

The UNESCO site Thingvellir National Park is geologically and historically significant. Apart from being the location of the oldest parliament in the world, Alþingi, it is also a place where you can see the Mid-Atlantic ridge above ground. The Eurasian and North-American tectonic plates pull the country apart by a couple of centimeters per year.

Lunch is included at Friðheimar. Dinner on your own this evening. Deluxe 4* Accommodation in Reykjavik Borg Hotel

Day 5 - Wednesday, July 29, 2020
Reykjavik / Faroe Islands
Faroe Islands gay tour - TorshavnFly this morning to the Faroe Islands. Our visit corresponds to the Faroe Islands National Holiday, called National Day or Festival of Faroe Islands. This is a 2-day celebration and many Faroes people crowd into the capital Torshavn. They stroll up and down the streets, many dressed in colorful national dress. This festival will add immensely to our trip to the Faroes.

Upon arrival, we proceed on a sightseeing tour to Bøur and Gásadalur on the island Vágar. Until recently the only way to get to charming Gásadalur was on foot from Bøur and over the mountain. Although there now is a tunnel to Gásadalur, the village is still unspoiled and has preserved its charm and authenticity. We might be lucky and get a glimpse of puffins when standing in front of the waterfall.

Later in the afternoon, we will check in at Hotel Føroyar located a bit outside the town with an excellent view of Tórshavn. Welcome drink while checking in and then a meal at the large National Festival Buffét at the hotel.

Guided tour to the city center where you will experience the Faroese National day 29th July. It is a great experience to walk around the streets of Tórshavn on this particular day and the guide will also take you for a stroll to the Fort Skansin built around 1580 and through the old part of town Úti á Reyni and the world’s oldest Parliament Tinganes.

Dinner at Barbara Fish House, a famous tapas restaurant in the old town of Tórshavn. This beautiful house was the fictional home of one of the most famous characters in Faroese literature, Jørgen Franz Jacobsen.

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Hotel: Føroyar Hotel, Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, 4*
Room: Standard Room

Day 7 - Thursday, July 30, 2020
Faroe Islands
Faroe Islands gay travelBreakfast at the hotel. Continue our exploration of the Faroes with a drive to Northern Eysturoy. We will cross the only bridge over the Atlantic Ocean, the bridge connecting Eysturoy and Streymoy. On our way, we will make several photo stops. Pass Fossá, Faroe Island’s tallest waterfall at 140 m, and the stunning free-standing cliffs called the Giant and the Hag. View the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands Slættaratindur, 882 m, and continue to the village Gjógv. Enjoy a stroll in the beautiful village Gjógv with a visit down the gorge (natural harbor) and a walk along the gorge where we might see a few puffins and enjoy the view to the Northern islands. Lunch at the Guesthouse, Gjáargarður.

Drive to Glyvrar in Southern Eysturoy along Skálafjørður, the longest fjord in the Faroe Islands.

Arrival at the boat harbor in Glyvrar. A representative from the Rowing Club will welcome us at the boat harbor and brief us about the national rowing competition and the Faroese rowing boats and tradition. We will be divided into groups, put on life vests and get a safety introduction. The teams will pull their own rowing boat out of the boat house and get onboard and row out to the starting point of the competition. The distance or length of competition will depend on both the weather and condition/age of our group. Enjoy a Faroese beer or soft drink after the rowing competition, served in an old renovated boat house on Glyvrar Beach. Visit the woolwear designer shop Navia in the village Toftir.

Drive to the authentic and unspoiled village of Æðuvík where the young farmer couple will welcome you outside the village and take you on a guided easy hike with storytelling in the outskirts and through the village. Enter the farm and see the farm animals and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. A young local singer-songwriter, Beinir, will perform a few songs on the balcony at the farmer’s house before dinner. Homemade three course meal at the farmers’ house. Starting with Faroese tapas, a tasting of different traditional Faroese foods.

Dinner with family recipes and homemade dessert with coffee/the. Drinks included. Overnight in Tórshavn.

Trip Notes:

Weather & Packing
July is an absolutely amazing month in Iceland and many locals count it as their favourite time of the year (and for a good reason). July is one of the warmest months of the year, with very long days, lot’s of fun festivals and perfect for road trips, hikes, camping, glacier excursions and all the other Iceland adventures that you can imagine.

Iceland is not exactly known for its sunny and warm weather, but in July that's what you could get from the land of fire and ice. July boasts Iceland’s warmest temperatures with average highs around 14 degrees Celsius (57 F) and average lows of 9 degrees Celsius (48 F). With an average temperature of 11 degrees Celsius (51 F), this isn’t exactly sun tanning weather, but if you’ve lived through an average temperature of 5 degrees Celsius (41 F) the whole year, this is a much welcomed treat. Mind you, these are averages and you can lucky and have warmer days. And, if you do, you’ll think you’re in heaven!

International Airfare
You will need to book flights to and return from REYKJAVIK (KEF). Flying to Iceland has never been easier! Plenty of airline companies operate regular flights to Iceland. You can find direct flights to beautiful Iceland from nearly 90 cities around the world. Some offer annual services while others are limited to the summer season.

Travel Documents
A valid passport is required for international travel and must be valid for 3 months after the return date. No visa is required for USA and Canada passport holders.

Minimums/Guarantees
All departures are guaranteed on a minimum number of participants. A Coda Tour Manager will accompany a tour also based on a minimum number of participants. This tour can be operated as a Private Tour, can be customized and repriced based on a final itinerary.
