Ibiza Spain Bucket List 55 Secrets

Arriving IbizaBeing an island, there are only two ways to get to Ibiza. Most people prefer to fly into Ibiza International Airport (IBZ), as it's the quickest and most convenient option. Several flights arrive each day from a few major Spanish cities as well as from Palma de Mallorca and UK destinations. The other choice is to take a ferry. Ferry services are good and at least one boat per day arrives at Ibiza. The main advantage of taking the ferry is that you can bring your car.

Ibiza FlightsBy air
Ibiza's single airport is located seven kilometres from Ibiza Town and handles several arriving flights each day, depending on the time of year. After landing at the airport, you will find bus service available to take you into town. Taxis are also available outside the terminal. The trip from the airport into Ibiza Town takes about 20 minutes. If you are travelling during the summer peak season, make sure you have a return flight ticket, as seats are few and far between during this time.

Ibiza FlightsIbiza's international airport is located just seven kilometres from the capital city, which makes flying in and out of the island easy and convenient. This little airport is busy, particularly on the weekends, when people flock to Ibiza from all over Europe to party at the island’s legendary nightclubs. The airport’s single terminal copes well with the large volume of traffic. Although small, the terminal has ATMs, a bank and a bureau de change. In addition, there is a post office, several places to eat and duty-free shopping. Iberia Airlines, Iberia Express & Vueling is the main carriers, operating daily flights from Palma de Mallorca and from Barcelona.

There are also a couple of flights from Valencia and Madrid each day. Air Europa is the other main carrier, offering two flights a day from Barcelona as well as less frequent flights from Madrid and Palma. Prices vary widely depending on the season. The airlines which use Ibiza airport as their hub in the Balearic Islands are budget carriers Ryanair and easyJet, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Niki, Neos, British Airways, TUIfly, Volotea, Jet2 Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Luxair, Flybe, Air Belin, Lufthansa and Condor Flugdienst for example. Charter flights make up the rest of the airport's traffic, with flights winging in from all corners of Europe. More...

Transport from Ibiza AirportTransportation from Ibiza airport
Arriving IbizaIbiza Airport serves two Balearic Islands, namely Formentera and Ibiza itself. The airport is situated just 4.3 miles / 7.5 km out of Ibiza Town, the south-west of the city and is also close to San José; the destination is mainly used by tourists during the peak season, which runs from May to October.
Getting from the airport to Ibiza Town is quick and simple.Line 10 buses operate a shuttle service between the airport and the Bus Station. Ibiza Bus stops are right next to the terminal. The buses run every 15 minutes during the peak month of August and July and every 20 minutes during other summer season months; buses operate between the hours of 6.00 am and midnight, starting from Estació Maritima Formentera via the port, then Eivissa (the main bus terminal) via Sant Jordi and then Ibiza Airport. Buses start operating at 6.20 am and continue running until 12.20 am. During the winter the buses run only every 30 minutes.
Taxis are also an easy way to reach your hotel. They are all waiting outside the terminal building to whisk you into Ibiza Town in about 20 minutes. Taxis will also take you to Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio, Santa Eulalia, San Jose and San Juan. Or you can book your transfer online before arrival. More...

Car rental IbizaCar hire
Ibiza gay friendly car hire is also a good option. Avis, Ibacar, Centauro, Auto Europe, Hertz, Europcar, National, Sixt, Budget, Alamo, GoldCar, and TUI Cars all have offices in the Arrivals area of the terminal. Their rental desks can be found on Level 0 of the terminal building. During the busy summer months car rental Ibiza Airport suppliers often struggle to meet demand. Arranging for car hire well in advance of the arrival date is the best way to ensure the vehicle of choice is waiting to be collected on the day.
Mementioned car rental companies have large fleets from which customers can choose the type of vehicle just right for their stay in Ibiza. Irrespective if the car is needed for a business trip or leisure during a holiday, car rental Ibiza Airport will be able to supply something for everybody, no matter what the budget, taste or requirement.
It is easy to find your way to Ibiza Town and other areas of the island, as the roads are well-signed. The main access road is the PM-801 motorway, which leads directly to the airport. You can also use the PM-803 motorway and take the exit at kilometre-4. Another way to get to Ibiza Town is to take the Carretera del Aeropuerto past San Jose and into the city. There are more than enough signs to make the 20-minute trip a simple one.
Or you can book your car online before arrival. More...

By ferryIbiza ferry

Ferries to Ibiza If you decide to come to Ibiza by sea, you will have several possibilities from where you can leave the mainland (Barcelona, Valencia and Denia) or Mallorca (Palma de Mallorca) and travel to Ibiza island. The two harbours of destination are Ibiza town (Eivissa) and San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany).
Ferry travel is one of the slower modes of transport available to the modern tourist. In the past a ferry trip from Barcelona took approximately 9 hours - sometimes a stop at Mallorca island increased that time. However, times have changed! Balearias new high-speed route connects Barcelona and Ibiza in just four hours! Acciona Transmediterranea & Balearia runs a ferry service from Barcelona to Ibiza. In addition, there is a boats from Valencia & Denia every day as well as boats from Palma on the neighboring island of Mallorca. Ferries arrive at the port area, located just a few minutes drive from Ibiza Town. You should check with a local travel agent in one of the departure cities to find out the current schedule. You can also book your ticket through any travel agent. Be sure to buy a return ticket if you are travelling in the summer season, as seats sell out weeks in advance.

By car

Ibiza by car Even though Ibiza is an island, it is completely possible to arrive by car. Ferries run from Barcelona and Majorca four times a week as well as from Valencia & Denia every day. You can drive your car right on to the boat and in a short while you'll be driving off in the port of Ibiza. You can also rent a car on the island at the airport, but it's advisable to book your car hire online ahead of time to avoid disappointment and to save money on the rental rate.
